Wolf Alice Win the 2018 Mercury Prize for “Vision of a Life” Album

Alternative band Wolf Alice have won the Hyundai Mercury Prize 2018. Ellie Rowsell, Joel Amey, Joff Oddie, and Theo Ellis has defeated 11 British musicians who were nominated such as Lily Allen (No Shame), Arctic Monkeys (Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino), Everything Everything (A Fever Dream), Everything is Recorded (Everything is Recorded), Florence and the Machine (High as Hope), King Krule (The Ooz), Noel Gallagher (High Flying Birds – Who Built The Moon?), Novelist (Novelist Guy), Nadine Shah (Holiday Destination), Jorja Smith (Lost & Found), and Sons of Kemet (Your Queen is a Reptile).

 

In a event held on Sep 20 at London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, the band received the “Album of the Year” trophy for “Visions of a Life”, which includes their hit single “Space & Time” and “Don’t Delete the Kisses.” They also received a cash prize of £25,000.

 

“I think that was hard enough. Thank you so much. This means so much to pick this up with my three best friends,” said Ellie Rowsell. “Thank you to everyone who ever supports us and comes to the show. This is means the world. Thank you so much,” added Theo Ellis.

 

Now Wolf Alice is equal with previous musicians who have won the Mercury Prize. There are Primal Scream, Franz Ferdinand, PJ Harvey, The xx, and Skepta.

Dalam sebuah acara yang diadakan pada 20 September di London Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, band ini menerima piala “Album of the Year” untuk “Visions of a Life”, yang meliputi single hit mereka “Space & Time” and “Don’t Delete the Kisses.” Selain itu, mereka juga menerima hadiah uang tunai sebesar Rp 436 juta.

 

“Saya pikir itu cukup sulit. Terima kasih banyak. Kini Wolf Alice setara dengan musisi-musisi sebelumnya yang telah memenangkan Mercury Prize. Antara lain Primal Scream, Franz Ferdinand, PJ Harvey, The xx, dan Skepta.
