Zayn Malik and Zhavia Ward Duet in the New Version of “A Whole New World”
ZAYN and Zhavia Ward have collaborated for a remake of “A Whole New World,” which will be featured in Disney’s upcoming movie “Aladdin”.
Directed by Philip Andelman (Major Lazer’s “Know No Better”), the mv shows Malik and Ward sing the classic ballad in various places in Manhattan at night time, including Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace.
The 26-year-old singer personally selected Ward for the duet, who stands on a rooftop in a vibrant red silk blouse, looking up at the sky and singing the original soundtrack.
“The selection of artists, producer and tonal direction was critical for the success of updating a classic song like this,” said president of Walt Disney Studio’s Music & Soundtracks Mitchell Leib. “Zayn’s vocals are like no other and his artistic imprint immediately brought a contemporary and diverse presence.”
According to Rolling Stone, the new version of “A Whole New World” will feature in the film’s soundtrack as well as the end credits, similar to Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle’s version in 1992. The full album also included performance of Alan Menken, Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine), Will Smith (Genie) and DJ Khaled.
